I was going to put the title as “Terrific Tuesday” but i’m getting bored with the alliterative titles

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Alison Kent’s Maximum Exposure, due out December 08. Wow…i mean, seriously, wow. Read the excerpt on the link above and then imagine a whole book like that and about ten times better. Honestly, go read it. I’ll wait.

Now that you’re back, here’s the blurb (in case you didn’t read it on her site):

What this doesn’t mention is the other couple, and for me, they’re what make the story. Roland (Olivia’s store manager) and Jodi (assistant to said love sick gallery owner) have an awesome relationship. Not least since Roland is gay and initially not interested in Jodi. but Jodi is persistent….

SPOILER ALERT! aaand we find out in chapter two that Roland Green, is actually Roman Greyle, Undercover agent with the DEA and totally straight. END SPOILER ALERT

But yes, Roland and Jodi have a fiery relationship that needs to be read to be believed. All i’m going to say is Jodi, Roland, swimming pool. You REALLY have to read it to find out. i mean Whew, seriously. The scene just blew me away.

Both growing relationships are given good “screen time” so as a reader i didn’t feel left out on any important developments, and although the main emphasis is on Livia and Finn, the two pairings play off each other and inter-cross really well.

Olivia and Finn are initially on two separate roads heading in opposite directions. Livia is fiercely strong and independent, and Finn just wants to finish his PI work so he can finish his beach house. He has no idea that he’s going to be roped into acting the photographer for an art gallery owner taking pictures of a woman who likes people to “watch”.

Finn is constantly trying to work out Livia’s reasons and motivations of letting people see her in compromising ways while fighting his attraction. Livia for her part is dismissive of Finn’s less that happy reactions to what she sees as a natural part of herself.

As the book progresses the roads they’re on start merging as their relationship goes from business to pleasure. There’s an equally good scene to the Pool one i mentioned above. Not to spoil anything all i’m going to say is: camera, boutique, hot!

The book is amazingly written. It’s hard to pull off a book where a lot of the action is photo’s being taken but Alison Kent does it, not only well, but with flair. I got strong visual impressions of what was going on and i could almost perfectly picture every photo mentioned.

She also weaves in the sensuality and sexiness of the characters actions (especially Livia’s) without detracting from the main over arcing storyline or digressing into sex for the sake of it. Each encounter we see has a deeper and deeper meaning for the characters until their very souls are laid bare before each other and the camera.

As for Jodi and Roland, there is great personal risk as well as professional risk in Roland being with Jodi but he never backs down or cowards out of it.

This book is WELL worth the money and if you haven’t ordered it, what the hell are you waiting for?? You get two happy endings for the price of one, and so much sizzle and heat between the pages you may have to take a cold shower!

So yesterday ended up being a good laugh. My costume went through a few disasters but ended up looking really good after all

First of all my “glow in the dark face paint” didn’t glow, nor did it show up on my face except as grease. so i took all of that off. that meant my skull idea totally wasn’t going to work, so i was going to go as a goth. Luckily my friend S came through for me and sprayed my face with (of all things) white hair spray. It worked though so i went as a sort of scary dead person/ evil thing. And here are some photos:

In other news, today my mum got her second tattoo. It’s the double bow and arrow symbol from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter books. The one on the left is her new one, the one on the right is a dragon wrapped around the moon that she had done 9 years ago.

My long term readers may remember me posting this up about half way through August.

Well, the time has finally come! Jaci Burton’s RIDING TEMPTATION is releasing next Tuesday on the 7th of October! Go and buy it…like…right now! (pre-ordering is your friend). This is a book that made me sit down, and stay there until I’d finished the entire thing (and i had an E-ARC…yeah i killed my eyes but it was worth it.)

If you like motor bikes, leather, hard riding and faster thrills, you’ll love this book. Like a motorbike ride it has sharp turns, long slow stretches of pleasurable riding ( yes i mean it like that) and all the high speed, full throttle action you could wish for.

This is definitely one you don’t want to miss. (see my other review, plus a blurb, under the jump!)

Oh! and as an addendum, the heroine has a really interesting piercing…you’ll find out what i mean

Isn’t that such a cool sounding book? and how awesome is that cover?

First of all i just like to say that i love love LOVE her for doing Author Talk. Not only is it a great laugh, it’s also a great promotional tool. If you go right back to the beginning, it was set up as a promo tool for Gena and Jill (and Kresley i think). Well, it worked really well since i’ve had my eye on all the books from the authors they’ve mauled interviewed (including the divas own Crystal Jordan ). Oh, and i also would like to add how unfair it is that Gena is not only insanely successful as well as being an awesome person, but she’s so damn hot too. There’s no justice in the world.

But anyway, now i love Gena Showalter even more. Because i read the first book in her Lords of the Underworld series, ‘The Darkest Night’.

Holy.

Cow.

I cried at the end of it and was so gripped throughout that i actually forgot to sleep. Yes. I did. Twice in fact. I started it when i went to bed at around 10 on Saturday (i know it was early, so sue me), looked up a while later and realised it was half 12 and i’d read half the book. Well i forced myself to put it down and went to sleep. Only to pick it up again when i got up Sunday morning. I managed to read another quarter before i forced myself to put it down again (i needed to, ya know, eat and go to the bathroom etc). Then with bated breath (i knew i shouldn’t have left it on a cliffhanger) i delved back in when i went to bed Sunday night….aaaand looked up at gone midnight having finished it going “damn i wish i had the next one. Like right now.”

The book was just so. damn. good. It’s emotionally charged the entire way through and the hero is practically bi polar at one stage – and i couldn’t get enough. One of my favourite tropes is the tortured hero, and hell yes Maddox was tortured. Cursed to not only have the demon of violence live inside of him, but he has to die, every single night where he is then transported to hell to have his body burnt to ashes, regenerate, and burnt to ashes again and again. I’d say that was pretty tortured

But it was SO well pulled off. I seriously can’t get over how well done it was. It may actually be my new favourite book (sorry Zarek).

The heroine was just as well portrayed, strong willed but fragile, but able to control not only Maddox but Violence as well.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about this book without giving away plot details so just rest assured that you will not regret it if you pick up this book.
