A picture tells 1000 words

So i’ll tell you how the Writers Holiday went in slideshow format!

Long time no post

So i’ve been a little busy. Life has this habit of getting in the way sometimes. Life wise, things are going as well as can be expected, writing wise? not so much.

I received another Rejection a few days ago (poem didn’t fit the theme) and i realised that i’d written my entire novel wrong. Yes, you heard (well, read) me. 47,883 words down the drain.

I went to the Writers Holiday in Caerleon and learnt so many new and brilliant things which helped me develop my mad englesh skillz like init. ;) yeah Kate Walker’s amazing Romance writing course really helped me see where my story was lacking and therefore why it wasn’t working. The only solution i could see was to start again. So writing wise it’s not going very well but i’m slowly getting back into it. In a few days i should have a post about my trip to the Holiday as well as something called “Excerpt Monday” which apparently i have to post poems for. (Thanks to Kim Knox and Leigh Royals there.)

So a full catch up is on it’s way :D

Eureka

by god, I think i’ve got it. I was just having a lay down and suddenly all my YA’s (Young Adults) started talking to me at once. If i can some how combine the best elements of each story, (umm apart from the half demon one, that’s a good stand alone) then i could have one kick ass story.

Of course it’s going to be a challenge since all the stories are so different, but seeing as how i’m stuck on pretty much all of them, i think the answer is to blend them together. Except now i have some kind of Love Squiggle (instead of triangle) and several very large plot holes. Hmmm i will ponder on this further and work out what to do.

Oh yeah, and my space opera is going no where. Bloody characters just won’t listen to me.

PS i have a website (again) now: www.ajodonovan.co.uk

the summer reading trail

starts NOW!

My free read is only five pages (including title etc ;) ) and is an emotional story between two lovers. It is about forbidden love, aching loneliness and the desire to touch. Enjoy!

Any wonderful journey begins with a single step. Voirey Linger, a friend and aspiring author, has spearheaded a SUMMER READING TRAIL on her website. Basically, each step is a free read, a step toward discovering a whole bunch of new authors out there you might never have heard of or tried otherwise.

The first day of every month this summer, the trail gets a new breath of life, meaning a whole new set of steps and stories to read. You read JANE AUTHOR. one her site is a link to JOAN AUTHOR. On her site is a link to MABEL AUTHOR and so on and so forth. You can read at your leisure. For free. No blisters on your feet. Skip the ones you have no interest in. discover a fresh voice you enjoy. It is all good.

It’s Raining Men by Crystal Jordan

She loves them too much to change them. Until they turn the tables on her…

Every one of Candy’s werewolf instincts tells her that Michael is her mate. He’s a lawyer—smart, sophisticated, and handsome. The catch? He’s gay. There is no way she’s going to try to change who he is. Then she meets his lover Stephen, a seductive Fae-siren jazz singer, and she’s positive she’s got a screw loose somewhere. Mates with not one, but two gay men?

She’s definitely doomed to be single forever.

Michael and Stephen know that their unexpectedly flirtatious advances have thrown Candy for a loop. But there’s method to their madness—they’re both serious about her. And they plan to make sure she never spends another birthday alone.

Warning: Nekked men doing dirty, dirty things to each other and a very lucky woman, sexy biting of mates, seductive siren singing and a naughty masturbation in a public restroom. Hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do!

Buy it here!

well grr

signs that you may, in fact, be crazy number one.

Bloody characters. They won’t cooperate even after they get eaten by a giant space dragon!

*grumbles*

No wonder it hurts so much

How’s that for random?

anyways. Still working on my space opera, got incredably stuck on a scene last night, couldn’t work out which order of events would work better so gave up and went to bed. of course i then worked out exactly how to write said scene and told my brain to f*ck off because i was tired :D
I may put up the witty banter i now have to delete (aka stick in another document) to make this scene work.

Oh yeah, and my characters? totally not meant to be wise cracking. bastards. they don’t listen to me.

heh

I’m a Vulcan! With an important message.

Indeed – i am starting a monthly free read for this summer. It won’t be too long, just a few pages for your amusement and enjoyment. First one should be up in June if i can get it done in between my other work.

I’m actually working on multible projects at the moment due to insanely good Anthology calls and contests. My dream ebook and print publishers are both running an open call for sci fi – which i write :)

Oh and i’m writing some dirty poems for another anthology call. busy busy busy!

Plus i’m still doing Work Experience (i have a slight case of tendonitis in my right leg so i get to work from home – just the way i like it!) and i have that essay to do. Nothing like an intense work load to get you motivated!

Ooooh

Funky link about the most distant object in the universe, ever.(well, so far anyway)

Gamma Ray Bursts are really fascinating to me at the moment. i watched a documentary about what would happen if one went off in our own galaxy (result: we’re screwed) and got thinking about a really cool sci fi story involving this phenomenon. I love all things space related and they tend to help me with my writing.

what inspires you?
